At God’s Right Hand

We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew that later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God’s throne! Heb 12:2

I can’t even imagine the pain He must have suffered for us. I have read and heard how horrible the agony would have been. I shudder and feel terrible for my part in His pain.

This is a part of the scripture that we all must read and understand.

He was born as the Son of God to come to

  • preach
  • make disciples
  • heal
  • then die for our sins.

God came to us as the Son to be able to free us from sin so that we could come before Him free of evil.

Before Jesus ascended to heaven He gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to all people. With this gift, we are able to communicate with Him any time we want to. We are to bring everything to Him in prayer. Even the littlest thing as to what route to take while driving. He sincerely means He always wants an open line of communication.

This is something we are to teach our children as they grow. They need to know that Jesus came to bring us the gift of eternal life. Teach them that a prayer can be as simple as Help! That God is always there to help and comfort them. He needs them to learn to trust Him and talk to Him all of the time.

Read them stories from a children’s Bible and then talk with them about the message that God wants them to understand.

How can I help you teach the children to rely on God?

Guided By The Spirit

If you are guided by the Spirit, you won’t obey your selfish desires. Gal 5:16

Have you felt the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit? Have you felt the peace that passes all understanding?

It is so amazing when you witness the answers of God.

In 1996, I was called to go back to school to study and become an AiM, Associate in Ministry. It’s a commissioned position in a church. It can be in any numbers of area of service within the congregation.

  • Education
  • Worship
  • Children
  • Teens
  • Seniors
  • Finances
  • Music

My first reply was I can’t do that. I have a job and a family to take care of. When am I going to have time to go back to school. After much thought and prayer I gave in and let God guide me to sign up at Trinity Lutheran Seminary for my first class.

As I was going through the theology classes I learned so much more about the church and my relationship with God. I felt the Spirit guiding me as I went through the program. Then when I walked down the aisle at the beginning of the service when I was commissioned the tears rolled down my checks. I felt God’s love and approval for what I had done.

Help your children to learn to pray then listen for an answer from God. He will always guide you on the right path.

When have you felt God guide you to something you didn’t think you could do?

God Beside Me

Have you felt God’s beside you?

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. (Tyndale House Publishers. (2013). Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Ps 16:8). Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers.)

About a year ago my husband, Jim, had to go for a routine MRI. Having work to do at home. I kissed him goodbye and went started my housework. I was working along and saw the clock and realized he’d been gone about an hour. It seemed a little long, but thought maybe they were real busy. I waited about forty more minutes and still no Jim. I texted him to see if he had decided to go to the store. No response. Then called a few minutes later. No answer.

The devil began to try and get to me. making me think of all kinds of bad things.

I took a deep breath, asked God to let Jim be okay and called the hospital ex-ray department. The woman that answered said that they had taken Jim to the ER. She wouldn’t tell me anything more than that. I cried out to God, “I need You beside me, please.”

I changed clothes quickly and tried to stay calm as I drove to the hospital. I was praying all of the way there. Thanking God that it wasn’t very far. Once I parked the car I sat still for a moment and asked God to stay beside me and hold me close. Making my way to the ER entrance was a struggle. My legs just didn’t want to keep moving. I finally made it to the desk and asked where I could find Jim.

As I walked to the Critical care ER I was shaking. “God, hold me closer.” I finally saw Jim lying in a bed to my left. He looked fairly good. When I got to him I said, “What did you do?”

He and the nurse laughed. Then Jim told me that he had severe anaphylactic shock from the contrast dye for the second MRI. He passed out, and a nurse happened to see him going down. She got to him in time to ease him to the floor, saving him from further trauma. They ran all kinds of tests to make sure there had been no further damage from the dye and let him go home the next day.

That was one of the hardest days of my life. I was so grateful that God had been beside me the whole time to comfort me.

Times like these can be very difficult on you and your child? Thirty years ago, when my dad died, we had to tell our girls. It was hard to tell them, but it was necessary. When it was time to go to the funeral home for the first time we assured them that God would be beside them to comfort them.

Miracles Still Happen

Our LORD, I will remember the things you have done, your miracles of long ago.

Have you seen miracles?

I have:

  • Holding my children and grandchildren for the first time.
  • The first rays of sun in the morning
  • Winter’s first snow flakes

Have you prayers been answered?

Mine have:

  • Safe travels for loved ones
  • Healing for family and friends
  • Release from pain

Just before my mother died I prayed, “Please release her from her living hell.”

I so badly wanted her to be able to hold the baby I was carrying, but I didn’t want her suffering to continue until the baby was born. I truly feel that my prayer gave me the strength to let her go. God knew I was ready, and that I could move forward.

The miracles we see and the answers to prayer are very similar to those of times long ago. I believe our technology has changed, but when it gets right down to it we are the same in our feelings as Adam and Eve.

What are miracles you have seen around you?

Reconciled to God

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Rom. 5:10

Until we come to know God and the wonderful gift of His Son we are His enemies. It is when we accept the gift of the forgiveness of our sins, that we can be reconciled.

As a child I learned about God in church and Sunday school. Each year the study told me more about God. I found out as I was growing up that I should ask God to help me to make the right choices. Through classes and retreats I came to know God better and felt a closer relationship with Him.

There have been ups and downs in my life, just like everyone else. As I grew older I learned to talk to God and rely on Him more and more. I feel His presence in my heart, and hear His gentle voice guiding and comforting me. Here are some examples:

When I was facing a scary surgery I learned to turn it over to Him and literally felt a heavy weight being lifted from my shoulders.

At a time when our finances were at their lowest He told me that we really needed to give a proper tithe to Him, not just what I felt we could afford. It was after I began to tithe that our money began to stretch and we always had enough to cover our expenses.

Our church had a healing service when our oldest daughter was about nine years old. We had just learned that she had scoliosis, a curvature in the spine. I felt called to take her to the service. We laid hands on her shoulders and prayed over her. When I took her home she said that her back felt hot. I lifted her shirt, and where the curve had been was a red, warm, spot and her spine was straight.

You can have this gift of forgiveness, and the gifts He has in store for you. Just reach out and take the gift that is waiting for you.

Do you have questions about how to accept this gift? Can you share wonderful experiences you have had since you received the gift? Share those with us at the end of this post.
